YIDU JUNIOR 6-MAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Our trip this year took us to Pike Hills Golf Club in York.  We prepared well, taking advantage of a practice session and overnight accommodation ensuring the team was ready for the 36 holes to be played on Thursday.

Round 1 was very close with very little between the scores with the exception of one player doing a gross 70.  Many of our team were disappointed even though all were under 80.

Round 2 continued to be very tight but all of our lads were improving on their morning rounds.  George Cooper steadied the ship with a great gross 71 and when Dylan Graveling followed it up with an equally good 72 it was clear we were ahead of the game.

With all our players coming in under 80 we eventually won by a full 22 points.

Presentations were made by the President and President Elect of York District:

To Nigel Ogden for the Yorkshire District Union Junior League trophy.

To Neil Leatherland and Paul Hardstaff the Yorkshire Inter Union Team Championship Plate.

Individual medals to the team – Jonty Butcher, George Cooper, Ethan Dennett, Dylan Graveling, Presley Allott, Joel Johnson and Ethan Clark.

George Cooper received the John Peet bowl for the best gross score for 2 rounds.

Dylan Graveling won a tankard for the best gross afternoon score.

Sheffield have now won the 6-man championship 13 times since it’s inception in 1985.  They have won the Junior League Championship 11 times since the trophy’s new collar in 2003.

Many thanks to our executive, supporters, sponsors and parents for your support and encouragement as we look forward to continuing our work in 2025.
